Nao Usami

In a world where civilization has evolved to the point that the human body is no longer necessary, what will remain?

As we shed this growing hair and these ever-regenerating nails, this skin, this trembling body and mind—

where is humanity headed, drowning in its desire for excess?

And what legacy will we leave for future generations?

With this body that will one day vanish into the intangible,

I search for proof of the present, breathing in this small, fragile dwelling.

文明の進化が進み、人間という生命体の肉体がもはや必要とされなくなったこの世界に、何が残るのだろうか。

伸び続ける髪や爪、再生を繰り返す皮膚、震える身体と心を置き去りにして、

人類はどこへ向かい、過剰を求め溺れていく中で、私たちは未来の世代に何を遺していくのだろうか。

いつかは形を失ってしまうこの身体とともに、私は“ 今” の証を求め、この小さな住処で呼吸をしている。
